Is this useful and perfect for babies or not?  Abbott announces today it is voluntarily recalling brands including Similac powder, baby food in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam and in some Caribbean countries, because they may have been tainted by beetles. The company revealed the presence of a small bug in the product produced in one of its manufacturing capacity.
I had to supplement breastfeeding with infant formula, and the recently used powdered infant formula, Similac formula, which could be among those recalled, but I have not yet been clarified. Although the company offers a phone number (800-986-8850) and web link to find the batch number of the product, the line was busy, and the site does not work (I get a suitable error message “waiting for Similac” and then “service unavailable”) . I do not know how long it was so, but I tried for over an hour and suspect many other concerned parents do the same thing – which is why their phone and Web-and-down first. But do you think the company would expect that many people will worry, and they can avoid this problem, perhaps by offering other phone numbers to call.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that a formula containing these beetles do not pose an immediate health threat, but admits the possibility that the children she may have “a problem of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of a small part of the annoying insect digestive intestinal tract. For the supposedly low potential hazard to health, “ick” factors are still quite high, and I would like to know if my child has been exposed.
UPDATE: I was able to get through the Internet with one container of one hour and 15 minutes (and, fortunately, was not recalled),. Still trying to get information about the second package so I suspect that it will be hit or miss the people at a time so keep trying.
