The Miami Hurricanes will enter the 2010 CFB season as the #4 ranked team according to the Sporting News. Of course a lot of other pre season polls have them quite lower, but they are a top 25 team as the CFB season starts tonight. Junior QB Jacoby Harris is fastly becoming a skilled playmaker, but he must cut down on his interceptions, he had 17 in 2009. The ‘Canes also have a lot of staff returning and continuity with that should pay off big in 2010.
The key date on their schedule is September 11th at Ohio State. The Hurricanes must travel to the Horseshoe for a rematch of the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. It seems that this is the biggest Non Conference game for the ACC all season. They get a big test the next week when they travel to Pittsburgh, and save the opener against Florida A & M spend September on the road in the North.
The next big thing for this team is Jamal Reid. This red shirt freshman was all the talk of spring ball and is expected to push for a starting safety job very soon. Without a doubt he is one of the finest DB recruits the country over.
This was a 9-4 team a year ago, and they finished in the top 25 rankings for the first time in four years. The players take great pride in having rebuilt this program into an elite status, but feel that much work remains. This is a hungry team, and that usually means they will go out and get things done.
