Professional Regulation Commission or PRC Philippines as released the Nursing Board Exam Result July 2010. The nursing board exam or the Philippine Nursing Licensure exam is one of the many exams that Filipinos wait with almost celebrity like status among which exams for Doctors and Lawyers. Last July 2010 approximately 91,008 graduate nurses took the Nursing Licensure Exam or NLE. The NLE determines the readiness of the graduate nurse to finally take on the responsibilities of the hospital.
The exam consists of five sets containing exam questions from the topics in Nursing among which are Fundamentals in Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Maternal and Child Nursing and Communicable Diseases and infectious control. The Board of Nursing makes the questions and the PRC randomly chooses the question to prevent cheating as what happened in the June 2006 Nursing board exam leakage.
Out of the 91,008 graduate nurses who took the exam only 37,000 or only the National passing rate 38% passed the July 2010 Nursing Board Examination. One of the lowest national passing rates so far. Names or list of July 2010 Nursing board exam passers are now posted in PDF files and lists of the Nursing Board Exam results can be viewed in Philippine News Websites such as inquirer and the names will be released in newspapers tomorrow. Successful nurses are reminded to comply with the requirements for the Nursing Oath taking to approach their local PRC Philippines office.
To date there have been no list released yet of the Topnotchers of July 2010 Nursing Board Exam a list that Filipinos all over the Philippines await with almost celebrity like status. The top 10 placers usually garner scores above 85% however the top 10 list follows who is the highest and the rest are bracketed until the 10th highest score. Topnotch nurses usually get bonuses and benefits from their school or university, review center and even get first priority in applying in hospitals and agencies.
These nurses however should not be likened to the group of student nurses who took their picture in the Rolando Mendoza hostage taking location to which the pictures have gone viral and have sparked mixed reactions from the world.
