Jimmy Fallon Emmys Opening

The Emmy opening number of “Born to Run” last night has to be one of the best Emmy openings in the history of the awards show.

Jimmy Fallon brought a fresh spin to the idea of an awards show opening number, by kicking off the Emmys with a concept that included one of the hottest shows on TV: Glee.

The great thing here is that Jimmy Fallon has the talent and vision to pull this off – and he doesn’t do it alone, either, recruiting an all-star cast of TV talent to kick off the Emmy opening number in true glee club fashion.

Not only were a handful of the Glee cast on hand for the opening number, but Kate Gosselin got to make fun of her Dancing with the Stars performance, plus we had the likes of Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, Betty White, Jane Lynch, Jorge Garcia, Joel McHale, Tim Gunn and Randy Jackson.

I’m including last year’s Emmy opening number of “Put Down the Remote,” featuring the insanely talented Neil Patrick Harris (video) to compare against Fallon’s Glee-inspired “Born to Run.”

NPH’s opening number set the bar high, but I think Fallon easily leapt over it!

What did you think of the 2010 Emmys opening number?
