Sounds like BYU is following Notre Dame’s lead and going the Independent route in college football.
According to the Wiz of Odds, the news was broken by the Colorado State football twitter account (it has since deleted the tweet). Here’s how the move would work: BYU would remain in the Mountain West conference in all other sports, but thanks to a Worldwide TV Network, its football program could profit handsomely. A source told Andy Katz that, “BYU wants to differentiate itself from Utah, and by making itself the Notre Dame of the West, it could become a national power.” Ty Detmer and Austin Collie approve of this move.
